Propycil 50

What is Propycil 50 mg and what is it used for ?

Propycil belongs to the group of medicines known as antithyroid drugs.
An overactive thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone which causes a condition known as hyperthyroidism
This can lead to symptoms such as fast or irregular heartbeat, sweating, mood swings, shaking, weight change, weakness, tiredness, intolerance of hot temperatures, menstrual problems and others.
Some patients may also suffer from goiter and protrusion of the eyes (Grave’s disease). Propycil is given as a medicine to correct this hormone imbalance. It may also be used in certain other forms of thyroid diseases as autonomous toxic adenoma of the thyroid or as a preparation for surgical procedures (thyroidectomy) or radio-iodine therapy.
